Bastola’s Historic Davis Cup Push

Abhishek Bastola was part of Nepal’s Davis Cup debut in 2023, competing in Isa Town, Bahrain. His campaign began with a hard-fought victory over Qatar’s Mubarak Alharrasi despite battling fever and illness. He went on to defeat Yemen’s No. 1 Ghassan Al-Ansi and the Maldives’ top-ranked player Abdulla Faaih Fazeel, establishing himself as a key figure in Nepal’s inaugural Davis Cup campaign.

“With three singles victories that year and a matching performance in 2024—defeating top players from Guam, Brunei, and hosts Bahrain—Bastola was instrumental in securing Nepal’s promotion to Group IV.”
